Privacy Policy
Raku (“we”, “the app”) is an independent iOS app. This policy explains how Raku handles information. Raku is designed so that personal signals and spending patterns are processed on your device.
1. Summary
- No bank account login.
- Mail, statements, Health, Calendar, and selected Screen Time signals you allow are read and processed on-device.
- Optional iCloud sync keeps your Raku data with your Apple ID across your devices.
- We do not sell your personal or financial data.
2. Information the app may process
Depending on features you use, Raku may process:
- Directions you pin — names, optional targets, check-ins, and related settings.
- Spend trail — merchants, amounts, dates, and categories from sources you connect or import (for example statement dumps, pasted receipts, and iCloud Mail receipts).
- Recurring signals — subscription-like items you save or that are inferred from your trail (such as iCloud+ or Apple Media charges appearing in that trail).
- Health data you allow — steps, sleep, and mindful minutes via Apple Health, used to create local findings.
- Calendar shape you allow — the count and timing of events; event titles are not used in findings.
- Screen Time selection you allow — opaque app/category tokens for local digital-load findings; Raku does not receive app content.
- Display preferences — such as preferred currency and optional display name on the home LCD.
3. iCloud Mail (IMAP)
If you connect iCloud Mail, Raku uses IMAP (imap.mail.me.com) with an
app-specific password you provide. Credentials are stored in the iOS Keychain on your device.
Messages are fetched and parsed on-device to find receipt-like spend signals.
Mail content is not uploaded to our servers — Raku does not operate a mail backend for this feature.
4. iCloud sync
When you are signed into iCloud, Raku may sync app data (pinned directions, check-ins, spend events, recurring items)
through Apple CloudKit under container iCloud.com.raku.app.
That sync is between your devices and Apple’s iCloud for your account — not a separate Raku cloud database we operate.
5. On-device intelligence
Optional narrative polish may use Apple’s on-device Foundation Models / Apple Intelligence when available. Prompts and results for this feature are intended to remain on-device; they are not used to train a Raku cloud model.
6. What we do not do
- We do not require a bank connection or open-banking login for core use.
- We do not sell personal data or financial transaction data.
- We do not use your spend trail for third-party advertising.
7. Data retention and deletion
Data lives on your device and, if enabled, in your iCloud account for the app. You can remove connected mail credentials in the app, revoke Health, Calendar, and Screen Time permissions in iOS Settings, and delete the app (and related iCloud data for the app via Apple’s iCloud management) to remove local Raku data.
8. Children
Raku is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). Do not use the app to submit personal data of children.
10. Changes
We may update this policy as the app evolves. The effective date above will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
11. Contact
Questions about privacy can be raised through the App Store product page for Raku.
